Volkstanz Neckartailfingen, found in 1962 as a part of the Schwäbischer Albverein e.V., has always enjoyed dancing traditional dances. Today a lot of our activities protect and save tradition.

Folk-Dance and Folk-Music from the swabian region are the basis of our work. But also dances from other german regions and music and dances from our foreign friends are part of our repertory.

Special contacts we have to other groups in our european neighbourhood. Some members visited together with other organisations South America, North America, South Africa and Australia.

Flag- an Sword-Dances are elements with roots in the middle-ages. The Flag is the symbol of life, shown in different figures of the act. The Sword-Dance, only shown at special occasions, describes the interplay between good and evil. The sword represents not a weapon but a link between the dancers.

No dance without music! Our musicians are playing in a mixed instrumentation of stringed-, key- and wind-instruments folk-music for our dance-group. Some of our musicians deal with old traditional music and manufacturing and handling of historical instruments.


A special relationship exists to the clothing - the garb. Our garb was made in accordance with old notes. Also the maintenance of the regional dialect in performances and songs belongs to our aims.
